During the holidays many people can get very stressed about different things. Whether it be finding the perfect gift for a loved one or dreading that annual family visit. Stress and anxiety can lead to illnesses especially like the flu and common cold. Here are a few tips on how to stay healthy around the holidays.

Wash your hands! Many people don’t realize how many germs reside on our hands especially after touching things at public places. Public restrooms and grocery stores are 2 of the most common places for germs to make themselves comfortable. Make sure to wash your hands as soon as you get home or keep hand sanitizer in your car. Also watch where you put your fingers, we tend to touch our eyes and faces a lot more than we think. Your eyes are the fastest way for germs to enter your blood stream. So, make sure to keep your hands clean and away from your face!

Finally, this last tip has a bit more of a holiday flair. One way to stay healthy during these times is to drink hot chocolate! Who knew something that tastes so good could be heart healthy! Hot chocolate is packed with antioxidants and helps lower blood pressure. It improves blood flow and even reduces the risk of blood clots! The reason why hot chocolate is better than a normal chocolate bar is because it doesn’t have all of those added saturated fats to keep it from melting easily. So, to conclude stay healthy, drink hot chocolate, and happy holidays!
