With the NBA season starting only a few weeks ago, there have been many predictions about which players and teams would do better or worse this year. So far, the defending champion Golden State Warriors are picking up where they left off and are undefeated going into their ninth game. Last year’s MVP is leading the way for the team at 31.9 pointers per game with over 5 points and rebounds’ a game as well. Another team doing well is the LeBron James driven Cavaliers. They are off to a 7-1 start even without All Star point guard Kyrie Irving or Iman Shumpert. Some of the more surprising stories in the early going of the season are how poorly many playoff teams from last year are starting out. While the Pelicans and Grizzlies are both below five hundred, other teams like the Timberwolves and Thunder are off to hot starts behind younger players and stars like Andrew Wiggins and Russel Westbrook. In the East, the Pistons and Pacers are off to strong starts to due to monster play between Reggie Jackson and Andre Drummond while Paul George is playing like his old self in Indiana before his gruesome leg injury. Overall, there have not been many surprises with teams like the Hawks and Spurs playing well like last year although Golden State is still the team to beat.
